Kids Kidney Research

Personal Stories

"There is no cure for kidney disease. We need to understand why kidney and urinary tract diseases occur in children. And we need to improve the diagnosis and treatment of these, sometimes life-threatening, conditions."

Professor Adrian Woolf, Insititute of Child Health, Great Ormond Street Hospital

What is kidney disease?  How does it affect you on a daily basis?  What is it like for a child living with a chronic kidney condition?

Here, we try to answer some of these questions.  These are a selection of personal stories and experiences of specific kidney conditions, written by the parents of the child concerned, rather than a doctor.   Each article also includes a selection of links to websites that can give medical information on the respective conditions.

Keep checking back, as we add to the selection of stories and conditions covered.

Clearly, no two people will experience a disease in exactly the same way: however we hope that these stories will give you an insight into the realities of kidney disease
