Ed Drake - New Patron!

At 23, Ed Drake is a member of the British Alpine Ski Team, which is still very young in ski terms, as research shows male skiers peak at the age of 32. From Kingston in Surrey, Ed can often be found somewhere in the mountains of Europe where he races for Great Britain. Ed has always been fanatical about skiing, learning from the early age of three. Now Ed has been skiing on the GB team for five years and has stopped for nothing, except a couple of injuries forcing him out of practice. Ed has been victorious since his career began, winning the British Junior Championship and the individual British Championship. Now with these under his belt and more competitions lined up Ed will surely be adding to his already growing success.

Ed's 2009 season
Last season ended very successfully, with Ed as the only male British Alpine skier to pre-qualify for the 2010 Winter Olympic Games in Vancouver. The past 2 years leading up to his qualification, Ed has grown from strength to strength. Despite a hip operation in 2006, Ed came back stronger than ever winning four out of five titles in the British Championships in 2008, becoming overall champion. His success nationally, combined with a promising result in the Europa Cup in Wengen, led to his first all-important World Cup race. As part of a select five-man squad, the World Championships in Val d’Isere 2009 saw Ed finish within the top-thirty in two disciplines. No doubt he will face his next challenge, namely the upcoming Olympics, with his usual gusto and positive attitude.

Kids Kidney Research is delighted to welcome Ed as Patron!
