Kids Kidney Research

Funding for new projects

Kids Kidney Research is delighted to announce that it has agreed to fund four new research projects.  We received a significant number of applications this year and we are very grateful to our Medical Advisory Panel for their commitment and support to Kids Kidney Research. The Trustees rely on their opinions when making funding decisions and we are lucky to have such a dedicated team.

This year we will be funding the following projects at research institutions throughout the UK

  • Functional characterization of Wnt signalling defects in mouse models of human ciliopathies.  Professor Colin Johnson at Leeds University.
  • Proteomic analyses of kidney glomerular extracellular matrix in health and disease.  Rachel Lennon at Manchester University .

The remaining projects will be undertaken at the Institute of Child Health/Great Ormond Street Hospital and include:

  • Genetics of Renal Disease.  Detlef Bockenhauer.
  • The role of vascular endothelial growth factors (VEGF) and angiopoietins (Ang) in endothelial dysfunction in children with chronic kidney disease (CKD) stage 5.  Lesley Rees

Please visit our Recent Research Projects page for more information on these projects.
