2010 Virgin London Marathon | |
A huge congratulations and thank you to all our runners who took part on Sunday in the first Virgin London Marathon. It turned out thankfully not to be too warm a day, contrary to weather predictions, despite a downpour right at the start which must have dampened more than moods!!. There were some amazing times achieved, and special mention must be given to Sue Kumleben, who, running her first marathon, finished in an incredible 3 hours 20 minutes!! She is also our leading fundraiser, as of today!! Congratulations Sue! Both Giles Reynolds and Sam Clark (photo) finished in sub 4 hours, coming in together in 3 hours 53 minutes! A fantastic run by Sam, who not only had to drop out last year due to injury, but is also suffering from a form of kidney disease, which is helped through her exercising. Special mention also to Neil Baverstock, who crossed the finish line this year in a very respectable time, eight years after having to pull out due to a severe kidney problem which led to renal failure and to his sister donating a kidney to him!! Well done Neil, no mean feat!! |
