Enormous CONGRATULATIONS to all 15 of our London Marathon Runners who undertook the race yesterday in fairly tricky and changing conditions - raining one minute, hailing the next and luckily some sunshine!! But fortunately not too cold, or too hot!
Your results were amazing, with Martin Way of Dunelm Mills (our corporate sponsor) coming in in an incredible 3 hours 29 minutes. In fact, 7 of you came in under the 4 hour threshold..... fantastic. However, let's not forget everyone else who also put in some magnificent performances, especially as I know several of you only started running last year, with this being your first BIG race (and probably the last, you'll be saying today!!).
As for the fundraising, we are so grateful for all your efforts, many of you have raised unbelievable amounts!! We will post our total, just as soon as it is known. THANK YOU!!
Meet our 2008 Marathon Runners Kids Kidney Research are delighted to announce that we have 17 runners in this year's London Marathon! They are (in no particular order!)
Everyone has very personal reasons for running for Kids Kidney Research. For example Martin Way and Julia Morgan-Bell work for our corporate sponsor, Dunelm Mills, who have pledged to match their fundraising efforts. Johanna George is a school teacher. One of the children in her class has a kidney disorder. Dagan Jenkins works at Great Ormond Streeet Hospital, where some of the vital research we fund is carried out. 2007 London Marathon
Congratulations to all our runners who took part this year in what proved to be very unseasonably warm conditions - a runner's nightmare! Out of our 10 runners this year, 8 completed the marathon. Dagan Jenkins had to drop out a few weeks prior to the event due to injury, and unfortunately Timothy Arlington was severely hampered by blisters and cramps at Mile 20 and had to retire. Tandi Gruenbaum led the pack with an amazing time of 3 hours 53 minutes, followed by Miliyun Chiu in a superb time of 4 hours 53 minutes. Everyone else came in over 5 hours, which is a feat in itself, given the conditions. Thank you all for running on behalf of Kids Kidney Research..... we are extremely grateful to you, not only for raising money for us, but for all the hard training that goes into running a marathon!
