Kidney disease is debilitating at any time. When it involves babies and children, families suffer too. It can be devastating for everybody concerned. 10% of children with renal failure and 1% of all babies born in the UK suffer from vesicoureteric reflux, a condition where infected urine can pass from the bladder back into the kidneys, thereby permanently damaging them.
"Kidney failure in children is devastating, as it disrupts physical and social growth and development. Kids Kidney Research provides the vital seed money that enables us to develop new ideas to prevent or treat kidney disease in children." Dr Detlef Bockenhauer, Professor Robert Kleta |
